Very Low Level Waste
- Wastes with very low concentrations of radioactivity.
- Each 0.1 cubic metre contains less than 400,000 Bq of beta/gamma activity, or any single item with less than 40,000 Bq beta/gamma activity.
- From a variety of sources, including hospitals and non-nuclear industry.
- No shielding required.
- May be disposed of by various means such as with domestic refuse, at landfill sites or by incineration, depending on nature and quantity.
