Research interests: I
am interested in research into the design of games and simulations in on-line
learning within the context of adult education in the workplace, primarily
within science and engineering. Drawing upon cognitive psychology and educational
research, I am concerned with 2 issues
(a) how to put theory into practice in the design of technology enhanced learning
environments and how to support e-learning designers in their working practice
and
(b) how to support reasoning and meta-cognitive processes in learners such
as reflection, learning to learn, qualitative reasoning and team training.
For over 15 years, I have collaborated with European industry e.g. Training
of Emergency Response Management in the Chemical Industry. For more information
on research projects, see Julie-Ann's
web page.
I am a lecturer(Technology Enhanced Learning)in the Department of Educational
Research at Lancaster University. Previously, I worked as an instructional
designer and lecturer at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada. I am currently
developing a Doctoral Programme in Technology Enhanced Learning with colleagues
in CSALT.

Research
interests: Christine is a lecturer in educational research and a
member of C SALT. Her interests include the use of communications and information
technology in professional development, post-compulsory education, training
and lifelong learning, particularly: computer-supported collaborative learning,
networked open learning, multimedia-based learning environment design.
Christine currently supervises the following PhD projects:
